Dr. Astro Teller is the co-founder and Captain of Moonshots (CEO) of X, Alphabet’s moonshot factory. X creates and launches breakthrough technologies to help solve some of the world’s hardest problems. He currently serves on the boards of Wing, Intrinsic, and on the advisory board of Sandbox AQ.
Before X, Astro co-created and led several companies, including BodyMedia, a wearable body monitoring company; Cerebellum Capital, a hedge fund management firm whose investments were based on statistical machine learning; Zivio Technologies, an intellectual property holding company; and Sandbox Advanced Development, a technology/design consultancy and creator of its own products and business spinouts.
Astro co-created two conferences: The Gathering, an un-conference for next-generation leaders; and Solve for X, an annual celebration of moonshots, bringing together the top innovators in the world to give advice to some of the world’s bravest tech explorers.
Before his tenure as a business executive, Astro taught at Stanford University, and did engineering research for Phoenix Laser Technologies, Stanford’s Center for Integrated Systems, and The Carnegie Group Incorporated.
